Dehesa de Extremadura

Dehesa de Extremadura Iberian Ham

Iberian ham with the Dehesa de Extremadura Designation of Origin is a cured meat product made from Iberian pigs. These pigs are raised free-range in the Extremaduran pastures, a unique ecosystem with holm oaks, cork oaks, and gall oaks. Their diet is primarily based on acorns during the fattening period, which is key to its organoleptic characteristics.

This breeding and feeding process, along with a slow, artisanal curing process lasting between 24 and 60 months, gives the ham a rich, rich fat and an unmistakable aroma. Its meat has an intense, glossy reddish color and a complex, persistent flavor with sweet and slightly salty notes. The D.O.P. guarantees traceability and quality, ensuring that each piece meets strict requirements for origin and production. It is simply the result of tradition and the natural environment.
